Leeds United 2004-05 Match Worn Shirt - Clarke Carlisle

(Signed and donated by him!)

Season: Leeds competed in the Football League Championship during the 04/05 season, having been relegated from the Premier League after 14 years in the top flight. With debts of over £100 million, Leeds were not expected to make a push for an automatic return to the Premiership, with preventing a second successive relegation the priority.

Player: Clarke Carlisle. In June 2004, Carlisle agreed to join recently relegated Leeds on a free transfer. He was a regular in the team during the first half of the season, playing in every match from the start of September until the end of November. An injury was to keep Carlisle out for a number of weeks however he managed to gain his place back in the side towards the end of the season. He left Leeds in the summer of 2005, having spent one season at the club, playing 38 matches and scoring four times. At the end of the 2004–05 campaign Leeds accepted a bid of £100,000 from Watford, a decision that was t come back and haunt Leeds as they missed out on promotion to Watford in the 05/06 season.

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size plastic Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back. A stunning shirt that was worn by Clarke Carlisle and is also signed 'God Bless' on the back. The shirt was obtained/purchased from Clarke himself via Twitter.

Leeds United 2004-05 Match Worn Shirt

(Paul Butler 'Melanoma' Shirt)

Season: Leeds competed in the Football League Championship during the 04/05 season, having been relegated from the Premier League after 14 years in the top flight. With debts of over £100 million, Leeds were not expected to make a push for an automatic return to the Premiership, with preventing a second successive relegation the priority.

Player: Paul Butler.  Following relegation Paul joined Leeds United in July 2004. He was a first choice centre-back during manager Kevin Blackwell's reign and was made captain shortly after signing. Leeds first season was one of consolidating, the following season of 2005–06 saw the club almost regain their place in the top division but they lost the play-off final to Watford. After some poor performances, loss of fitness and the sacking of manager Kevin Blackwell, new manager Dennis Wise decided to strip Butler of the captaincy after a fall out, and he was told he was free to leave Elland Road on loan until January then on a free transfer.

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size plastic Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back. A very rare shirt that was issued for the last match of the 04/05 season versus Rotherham. The players wore a Melanoma charity emblem on the front of their shirts in memory of Bruce Craven (LUFC coach who died from Melanoma that year). This shirt was sold by Paul to raise funds for a local football team.

Leeds United 2004-05 Match Worn Shirt

(Aaron Lennon)

Season: Leeds competed in the Football League Championship during the 04/05 season, having been relegated from the Premier League after 14 years in the top flight. With debts of over £100 million, Leeds were not expected to make a push for an automatic return to the Premiership, with preventing a second successive relegation the priority.

Player: Aaron Lennon. In 2001, Lennon became a member of the Leeds Academy. Two years later he began his professional career at Leeds, where he became the youngest player to appear in the Premier League at the age of 16 years and 129 days, coming off the bench at White Hart Lane against Tottenham Hotspur in a 2–1 loss in August 2003. Lennon scored his only goal for Leeds against Sunderland on Boxing Day 2004 during a 3–2 win. Lennon had been a regular on the bench up until that point, but when John Oster was sacked Lennon took his place and never looked back and became a regular starter after that point. His pace and skills on the wing excited Leeds fans, and he was one of the star performers in Leeds' first season in the Championship under the management of Kevin Blackwell with his performances earning rave reviews. With Leeds' financial problems Lennon was sold to Spurs for a heavily reduced fee, with a sell on clause inserted into the deal.

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size plastic Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back. A very rare shirt worn by Aaron during his short spell at the club.

Leeds United 2004-05 Match Worn Shirt

(Julian Joachim)

Season: Leeds competed in the Football League Championship during the 04/05 season, having been relegated from the Premier League after 14 years in the top flight. With debts of over £100 million, Leeds were not expected to make a push for an automatic return to the Premiership, with preventing a second successive relegation the priority.

Player: Julian Joachim. In 2004 Joachim moved to Leeds United, a club in the process of rebuilding an inexpensive team, on a free transfer. He made 10 starts and 17 substitute appearances in the league for Leeds that year, but could only deliver two goals before being loaned out to Walsall for the final two months of the season.

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size plastic Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back. A very unique shirt as one Coca-Cola badge has been applied upside-down. This shirt was worn in the game against Crewe Alexandra.

Leeds United 2004-05 Match Worn Shirt

(Frazer Richardson)

Season: Leeds competed in the Football League Championship during the 04/05 season, having been relegated from the Premier League after 14 years in the top flight. With debts of over £100 million, Leeds were not expected to make a push for an automatic return to the Premiership, with preventing a second successive relegation the priority.

Player: Frazer Richardson. Richardson made his Leeds debut as a second-half substitute against Hapoel Tel Aviv during the 2002–03 UEFA Cup campaign. Richardson suffered Premiership relegation with Leeds in 2004 but it was not until the 2004-05 season where Richardson started getting regular first team football as Leeds started life in the Coca-Cola Championship. In the 2005–06 campaign, Richardson infrequently played on the right of midfield and helped the club reach the Play-off final against Watford. In the 2006–07 season, Richardson hardly featured under Blackwell in the Leeds team at all due to injuries. Under new manager Dennis Wise, Richardson played more regularly in the Leeds starting line-up, replacing the injured Gary Kelly at right back. On the retirement of Kelly, Richardson was given the number two shirt and became the club's first choice right back and started all the club's matches in the 2007–08 season until injury ruled him out. Richardson was appointed Leeds captain in for the 2008-09 season by McAllister, and remained club captain despite injury under new manager Simon Grayson but was released at the end of the season

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size plastic Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back. The shirt is signed and dedicated to Frazer's football agent and his company in which the shirt was given to.

Leeds United 2005-06 Match Worn Shirt

(Rob Hulse!)

Season: With new players brought in over the summer, the club's goal during the 2005-06 season was promotion. Blackwell's shrewd tactics away from Elland Road and attacking style at home proved highly effective, and by the end of February, Leeds were third in the Championship. However from that point onward Leeds slumped, gaining just 4 points from a possible 18, and eventually had to settle for a play-off place after finishing 5th. In the first round of the play-offs, against Preston North End, Leeds drew 1-1 at Elland Road, but won the return leg 2-0 to advance to the final, played on 21 May at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. However, in a dismal performance, Leeds crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Watford.

Player: Rob Hulse. Having played only a mediocre amount of games in comparison to his fellow strikers at West Brom, Hulse decided to join Leeds on loan for the final three months of the 2004–05 campaign instead of a £1.2 million switch to Stoke City. His debut was spectacular, scoring two individual goals struck from outside the box against Reading. The success of the loan spell led to a £1.1 million transfer to Leeds. Hulse scored 20 goals in 51 games. He was the club's top scorer with 14 goals in the 2005–06 season despite being in competition with several forwards including Robbie Blake, David Healy and Richard Cresswell for a place in the side as well as playing with an ankle injury during the start of the season.

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size felt Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back.

Leeds United 2005-06 Match Worn Shirt - Gary Kelly! (Framed, signed and filthy!)

Season: With new players brought in over the summer, the club's goal during the 2005-06 season was promotion. Blackwell's shrewd tactics away from Elland Road and attacking style at home proved highly effective, and by the end of February, Leeds were third in the Championship. However, in a dismal performance, Leeds crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Watford.

Player: Gary Kelly. This style of shirt comes from a period when Kelly was one of few stars that hung around following relegation from the Premier League. Kelly, the only Whites player of the post Don Revie era to join the exclusive 500 appearances club, was at Elland Road for 16 years after first coming over from Home Farm 22 years ago in July 1991. He made 531 appearances for United, making him the eighth highest-ever club appearance maker and was awarded a Testimonial match in 2002. Gary Kelly was voted Leeds' player of the season in 2006. He is number 44 in Leeds' 100 greatest players of all time.

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size felt Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back. Fantastic shirt that is still unwashed/filthy and now framed. The shirt was given to me in person following the home match against Hull in 2005 in which Leeds won 2-1. The shirt is also signed.

Leeds United 2005-06 Match Worn Shirt - Robbie Blake

(v Preston in the Play-Off Semi-Final. Unwashed and signed)

Player: Robbie Blake. Blake signed a three-year deal at Elland Road and commented that although moving to Leeds was stepping back a division he was looking forward to winning promotion with Leeds. He went on to make 31 starts for Leeds in the 2005/06 season and finished the season with 11 goals. Blake did manage eight goals in the 2006–07 season but this was not enough to save Leeds from relegation Following their relegation to the Football League One Blake was re-signed by Burnley for a fee of £250,000.

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size felt Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back. The shirt is unwashed (although not very dirty) and has been signed on the back. The shirt was given in person by Robbie following the play-off semi-final match against Preston at Elland Road.

Leeds United 2005-06 Match Worn Shirt - Robbie Blake

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, unique match details embroidered above the club crest, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size felt Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back. The shirt is very rare and was worn in the 3-0 defeat to Watford in the Coca-Cola Championship play-off final at the Millennium Stadium. Although the shirt is laundered, it still has heavy stains from match use.

Leeds United 2005-06 Match Worn Shirt

(Neil Sullivan)

Season: With new players brought in over the summer, the club's goal during the 2005-06 season was promotion. Blackwell's shrewd tactics away from Elland Road and attacking style at home proved highly effective, and by the end of February, Leeds were third in the Championship. However, in a dismal performance, Leeds crashed to a 3-0 defeat to Watford.

Player: Danny Pugh. In May 2004, Pugh was traded from rival Manchester United in part-exchange for Alan Smith, becoming the first player signed by manager Kevin Blackwell. Pugh held down the left midfield position in a 4-4-2 formation for the first half of the 2004–05 season, before being switched to left-back after an injury to Stephen Crainey. However Pugh fell out of favour at Leeds after Blackwell's decision to switch to a 4–3–3 formation and he featured just 15 times in the 2005–06 campaign and was sold to Preston at the end of the season. Pugh was resigned in Novermber 2011 by Simon Grayson but a series of managerial changes saw Pugh going out on loan regular before exiting Elland ROad for a second time at the end of the 2013-14 season.

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size felt Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back, signed by Danny on the back.

Leeds United 2006-07 Match Worn Shirt - Neil Sullivan

(Rare unreleased shirt)

Season: The 2006–07 season started badly with Leeds conceding late goals in several matches, and in September 2006 Blackwell's contract as manager of Leeds United was terminated. Leeds hired John Carver as caretaker manager but his spell was not a success. Carver was relieved of his duties and Dennis Wise was eventually installed as his replacement after a month without a permanent manager. Results did begin to improve as the season drew to an end, but relegation rivals Hull City and Queens Park Rangers went on even better runs at the same time, and this combined with Leeds's awful goal difference made survival all but impossible. With relegation virtually assured, Leeds entered a Company Voluntary Arrangement (administration) on 4 May 2007, thus incurring a league imposed 10 point deduction which officially relegated the club to the third tier of English football after finishing bottom of the league.

Player: Neil Sullivan. In June 2004, he was signed to replace  Paul Robinson who had left Leeds to join Tottenham following the clubs relegation from the Premier League. In his first season (2004–05), he was voted as the club's Player of the Year after some superb saves throughout the season, including saving several penalties. In his second season at Leeds he continued his penalty saving prowess, and Leeds went on to reach the playoff final against Watford with Sullivan again having a decent season. Due to an injury picked up in pre-season, Sullivan made few appearances in the 2006–07 campaign for Leeds, and was loaned out to Doncaster who he eventually signed for.

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size felt Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back (player shirts only), rare goalkeeper shirt that was never released as a replica and available to players only, signed 'best wishes' by Neil on the front. This shirt was worn in the away fixture against Hull City, this being the only time Neil wore this colour shirt with the secondary sponsor on the back.

(Tresor Kandol)

Season: The 2006–07 season started badly with Leeds conceding late goals in several matches, and in September 2006 Blackwell's contract as manager of Leeds United was terminated. Leeds hired John Carver as caretaker manager but his spell was not a success. Carver was relieved of his duties and Dennis Wise was eventually installed as his replacement after a month without a permanent manager. With relegation virtually assured, Leeds entered a Company Voluntary Arrangement (administration) on 4 May 2007, thus incurring a league imposed 10 point deduction which officially relegated the club to the third tier of English football after finishing bottom of the league.

Player: Tresor Kandol. After scoring 18 goals from 21 games for Barnet at the start of the 2006–07 season, Kandol joined Championship club Leeds United to add reinforcements to the relegation threatened side. After Leeds were relegated to the third tier of English football for the first time in their history, Kandol formed a successful strike partnership with Jermaine Beckford in the first half of the season, scoring 15 goals, as Leeds went on to reach the playoffs. At the start of the 2008-09 Kandol was loaned to Millwall following the arrival of Luciano Becchio. He finsihed the 2008-09 season at Charlton but was brought back to Leeds for the start of the 2009-10 season by manager Simon Grayson but made few appearances and was released at the end of the season.

Leeds United 2006-07 Match Worn Shirt

(Alan Thompson)

Season: The 2006–07 season started badly with Leeds conceding late goals in several matches, and in September 2006 Blackwell's contract as manager of Leeds United was terminated. Leeds hired John Carver as caretaker manager but his spell was not a success. Carver was relieved of his duties and Dennis Wise was eventually installed as his replacement after a month without a permanent manager. Player: Alan Thompson. Signed on-loan in January 2007, Thompson made an instant impact by scoring on his debut against West Brom and then in his next game scoring a trade-mark free-kick again Hull which proved to be the winner. A player with real quality but unfortunately was signed too late to stop Leeds being relegated to League 1. His performances did not go unnoticed though, and he was later signed at the start of the 2007/08 season and made captain. He made a total of 13 appearances for the club scoring 3 goals.

Other Details: Embroidered club badge, embroidered manufacturers logo, plastic transfer sponsor, player-size numbers/letters, player-size felt Coca-Cola Championship badges on sleeve, secondary sponsor on back (player shirts only), squad signed.

(Rui Marques)

Season: The 2006–07 season started badly with Leeds conceding late goals in several matches, and in September 2006 Blackwell's contract as manager of Leeds United was terminated. Leeds hired John Carver as caretaker manager but his spell was not a success. With relegation virtually assured, Leeds entered a Company Voluntary Arrangement (administration) on 4 May 2007, thus incurring a league imposed 10 point deduction which officially relegated the club to the third tier of English football after finishing bottom of the league.

Player: Rui Marques. Signed in the 2005-06 season by Kevin Blackwell but never given a chance until Dennis Wise rewarded Marques' hard-work and persistence by handing him his league debut. This performance saw Marques being rewarded with a long run in the starting line-up at Elland Road. Marques after such a long time out in the cold for Leeds became one of the first names on the team sheet and was an instant hit with the fans.Despite putting in some impressive performances, they were not enough to save Leeds who were relegated to League One for the first time in their history. Marques become a key player during Leeds' three season in League One and on occasions was made captain. He played a vital role during the start of the 2007/08 season but as the club stabilised and brought in defenders such as Naylor and Kisnorbo then Marques provided good cover when needed.

Leeds United 2006-07 Match Worn Shirt

(Richard Cresswell)

Player: Richard Cresswell. Cresswell was bought by Leeds on a four-year contract for a fee of £1.15 million. He first found the net with two goals in Leeds' League Cup 2–0 away victory against Rotherham United. However, Cresswell suffered knee ligament damage, an injury that kept Cresswell out of action for seven weeks. He was sent off in the 2–0 win in the second leg, meaning he was suspended for the 2006 Championship play-off Final and therefore finished the 2005–06 season with 21 appearances and seven goals. Having damaged his knee ligaments during the play-off semi-final, Cresswell missed the start of the 2006–07 season and he finished the season with four goals in 23 games.

Season: The 2006–07 season started badly with Leeds conceding late goals in several matches, and in September 2006 Blackwell's contract as manager of Leeds United was terminated. Leeds hired John Carver as caretaker manager but his spell was not a success. Player: David Healy. In October 2004, Healy was signed by Leeds for a £650,000 fee. In his first season at Leeds he was the club's joint top scorer alongside Brian Deane with seven goals, despite only joining Leeds halfway through the season. He again finished as joint top scorer in the 2005–06 season, both he and Rob Hulse on fourteen goals. During the management of Kevin Blackwell Healy found himself regularly being played out of position at Leeds, mainly as a right winger, with Leeds rotating Hulse, Cresswell and Blake up front. Healy then finished the following 2006–07 season as Leeds' top scorer with ten goals. With Leeds relegated into League One, he left the club at the end of the campaign to join Premiership outfit Fulham.

(Jonathan Douglas)

Season: The 2006–07 season started badly with Leeds conceding late goals in several matches, and in September 2006 Blackwell's contract as manager of Leeds United was terminated. Leeds hired John Carver as caretaker manager but his spell was not a success. With relegation virtually assured, Leeds entered a Company Voluntary Arrangement (administration) on 4 May 2007, thus incurring a league imposed 10 point deduction which officially relegated the club to the third tier of English football after finishing bottom of the league.

Player: Jonathan Douglas. On 19 August 2005, he joined Leeds United on a season-long loan where he became a regular player, making over 40 appearances for the club and scoring five goals in the process as Leeds reached the Championship playoff final. These performances impressed former manager Kevin Blackwell enough to make the move permanent, and on 31 August 2006, Douglas moved to Leeds permanently for an undisclosed fee. Douglas' performances impressed new manager Dennis Wise and kept him in the Leeds starting lineup and later made him captain.  Despite being stripped of the club captaincy, Douglas played regularly in the Leeds first team in the 2007–08 season and helped Leeds reached the playoff final against Doncaster Rovers but lost the game 1–0. The following season Douglas' played in a more unfamiliar position of right back as Leeds reached the playoffs again, only to be knocked out the competition when they lost 2–1 on aggregate to Millwall. This was to be Douglas' last season with the club as he was released in May 2009.
